Hi I’m Sarah!
I studied art in school, but like a lot of people, I ended up taking the “safe” route and spent 25 years working in banking, I only planned for 5 years !! In 2013, my partner Peter, our son Daniel (who was five at the time), and I moved to West Cork, Ireland. Peter’s parents were already living here, and it didn’t take us long to feel completely at home in the community and surrounded by the amazing scenery.
Before long, the beauty of West Cork started pulling me back towards painting again. The coastline, hills, and constantly changing skies really reignited my creativity, and I slowly started picking up my brushes again.
Earlier this year, I was finally able to cut back my working hours, which has given me more time to focus on my art. I’ve recently completed a course in acrylic inks, which I’m really excited to explore more in future paintings. I’ve also completed a set of 3 commissions and have another 3 on the go. My hope is to continue creating and keep growing as an artist.
When I’m not painting, life here keeps us busy in the best way. I love playing badminton and taking our dogs for long walks. Peter spends a lot of his time rewilding parts of our land and creating a small woodland, while Daniel loves horse riding and volunteers regularly at the local stables.
Our two deerhounds, Tessa and Ramsay, are full of personality and love racing through the forest trails nearby. We also share our home with four rescued rabbits and three guinea pigs, all thoroughly spoiled and living their best countryside lives!
Life here is full of inspiration, and I’m really looking forward to seeing where this next chapter takes me — both in art and in life.
